Ways to impress your team during your internship

Team Prosple

Begin by reminding yourself of the issue you're attempting to address, and then proceed to go further into your ideas and analyses one step at a time.

Some of the most effective strategies to impress your colleagues throughout your summer internship are as follows:

  • Make yourself an excellent problem solver. Demonstrate that you are comfortable discussing an issue on the spot with your management and colleagues.

  • Take responsibility for your job. No one has the time to babysit the interns. Your bosses will depend on you to be the one who knows your work plan the best out of anybody else.

  • Communicate in a straightforward and concise manner. Begin by reminding yourself of the issue you're attempting to address, and then proceed to go further into your ideas and analyses one step at a time. Many candidates delve immediately into their methodology or a specific component of analysis without taking a step back.

  • Be focused on getting outcomes. Start with the answer, even if it's just a partial response.

  • Demonstrate your ability to think critically. During your internship, you will be expected to demonstrate some level of analytical proficiency. It's quite OK to ask for assistance; many individuals do so when they are learning a new kind of analysis. If you are having difficulty with analytics, be prepared to stay up late for a few nights to get it right.

  • Double check your work. Inquire with your management about the best way to ensure that your analysis is error-free.

  • Any errors should be acknowledged right away. Everyone makes errors from time to time. It's truly about how you deal with them and what you do to avoid making the same errors again.

  • Get along well with a diverse group of team members, and gain the trust of your colleagues so that they are comfortable with you sharing your findings with the client.
